Jhené! Jhené! Been dope since she was a feature on B2K’s “Dog” off the Pandemonium album.
Sexy and chilling. #werk
Oh my gawd, I’m finna fall out! Two of my favorites, what!! The video opens very idyllically, with the full treetops. AND then, enter James Blake, whiskey sweet songstress (yes a man can be a songstress), thrown over a simple piano rhythm. WICKED!
Driving a droptop in the rain (reminiscent of the Outkast “Bombs over Baghdad” lyric where Dre says “Weatherman tellin’ us It ain’t goin’ rain/So now we sittin in a droptop, Soakin wet /In a silk suit trying not to sweat”).
the beat drops and Chance and James penetrate into the “urban” world, complete with twerkers who remind of Biggie Smalls from Pootie Tang, an old White guy smacking the hell outta of youngin for God knows what. Here, Chance go with that crispy flow. Shoutout to his Chicago Leaders New Era/9Fifty snapback (http://www.leaders1354.com/). An interracial couple with one cougar. A black elder and white nun. A white farmer and his Black Stallion. Three tribal rebels (looking East African), patterned rags masking their mouths, YUP in they white tees.
Basically, the visuals are somehow diametrically opposed to “normal” neighborhood interactions. One, the video itself is in black and white, the combinations/pairs you see are black and white. Fresh as hell.
I love his music.
MK is definitely the dopest male author-filmmaker-artist! He is a magnetic person and his story will inspire you. The son of an Afrocentric leader and product of Philly, he’s absolutely a conqueror. The Creator watched over him despite peril until one very special teacher told him to WRITE, just WRITE.
