Lauryn Hill is prophetic on this one, she is spitting about Revelations!
I was wondering: how do I deal with all that is flying around in my thoughts? How do I stop myself from overanalyzing and speculating? How do I get my self-critique to shut up? How can I enjoy the rest of my day after something bothers me?
Suddenly, the answer spoke. What does the Bible say about the mind? How do we seek mental peace?
“Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice. Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”
Philippians 4:4-8 KJV
“…whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.” Philippians 4:8 ESV Funny, before when I walked in darkness, I surrounded myself with positive reinforcement: always reading about the power of our good thoughts, the beauty of life, the mental effects of a smile, and the imperativeness of thinking you are a one-of-a-kind type of INCREDIBLE! You couldn’t find me without an encouraging word or bright spirit about myself, honey! I was forever reading an article about joy, or partaking in self-indulgence to distract myself, or playing an internal game of “I Spy” and pointing out beautiful things, ideas, places, and people to appreciate.
David speaks about the beauty of the Lord (let’s not forget that he made EVERYTHING, including your favorite people, places, and things).
“One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple.” Psalms 27:4 KJV
We are experiencing (and often desirouly yearning for) material things, like Jaguar XJs, Caribbean vacations, money, and immaterial things, like love, that He created and that HE gives.
“Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.” Psalms 100:3
He has the keys…(and you can’t get in, as the joke goes, lol) without accepting His Son, His baptism, His directives and His help.
Like Paul says, “Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice!”
Joyfulness! Gladness! Thanksgiving! Peace! Harmony! Love! Hope! Charity! Forgiveness!
Demonstrate your love for God by seeing with eyes of admiration and gratitude.
Take Him your worries. Pray to Him. Talk to Him.
“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7 KJV
Do you know that every Single time that you are worrying you are saying, “God ain’t got this. I gotta figure it out on my own. He wouldn’t be interested in my issue. He doesn’t know how to sort out this situation at work, this relationship, this bill, this headache, this hurt.” Don’t you dare deny God the opportunity to work on your behalf. Don’t ignore His omnipotence, His omnipresence, His omniscience.
“Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.” Joshua 1:9 KJV
“And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power; When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day. Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power: That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.”
2 Thessalonians 1:7-12 KJV
You better be smiling!
You are blessed.
